When life gets busy, it is easy to lose track of the little things. The same thing goes for varying aspects of that busy life, like work – papers pile up, meetings are constant, and your to do list never ends.
Did you know that the average American spends 90,000 hours at work over their lifetime? That is a staggering amount of time in an environment that often gets overlooked. So, don’t you think it’s time you carved out an opportunity to show your workspace, and your team, a little love?
Of course, we were just talking about not having enough time, but sprucing up your space doesn’t need to involve a full renovation. Sometimes, the little things can make the biggest difference.
Add some colour, like green.
No, we don’t mean you have to go out to buy a bucket of paint. Plants have a way of making your space brighter and friendlier. A pleasing green work environment never hurt anyone (unless someone has allergies). Add a variety of plant sizes – big ones for the waiting room and small ones for desks, perhaps?
Fake plants need not apply.
Give them a breath of fresh air.
Sometimes an office space doesn’t allow for big open windows or an outside patio area to get some much-needed fresh air. Another way to combat the office smells is adding some air fresheners to your space! (Once again, be mindful of allergies by running this idea by your employees.)
A little quirk never hurt anyone.
The best office spaces aren’t just clean and have great feng shui; they give off the company’s personality throughout. These quirky touches don’t have to be expensive. Instead they can be adding fun pillows to the reception area, your logo on a feature wall, chalk board paint for your team to add fun messages, or art work from your team building paint night (hint-hint).
